David hated in camp already

Friday, November 21, 2008, 05:23

David Van Day managed to get on the wrong side of his fellow I'm A Celebrity contestants almost as soon as he entered camp.

After the ex-Dollar star and Timmy Mallett were freed from prison they joined the others, and show bosses revealed no extra bed would be provided, but that two campers would have to sleep in a nearby cave.

Timmy volunteered to sleep in the cave but while the others debated who would join them, David snapped: "Can you hurry up and decide so I know what bed I'm staying in."

Nicola McLean, Joe Swash, Robert Kilroy-Silk and Simon Webbe were all indignant and a worried Timmy told David: "You're going to set the cat among the pigeons. You're going to have a ding dong with quite a few people."

Esther Rantzen even volunteered to sleep in the dark, damp, cold cave, but as she's 68 her campmates refused to let her.

David - who Timmy claimed had been scared of the dark on the previous night in prison - hatched a plan, agreeing to sleep in the cave for one night. But he told Timmy he plans to demand a bed again the next night.

But the row fired up again and David and Simon had a furious row. Simon told him: "Don't come in here and tell me it's my ego because I'll take your s**t and take it down there. Your bed!"

George Takei joined in, telling David: "You come in after nights in hotels, and one night in the cage. You have not paid your dues."
